From mouthwatering local eats, alluring orange groves, engulfing mountain ranges, to its distinctive inhabitants -- Redlands has a unique appeal to everyone who calls it home. Gabriel Gonzalez is no different.

How do you satisfy everyone? Can you eat good food, experience unique venues, and still like the kids at the end of the day without breaking the bank or dissolving into bored fits of tears (that’s me, not the kids)?

You can. Here’s how.

In 2020, the world as we knew it slowed down and stopped, giving way to a new world of uncertainty and, at times, isolation and loneliness. Our entire way of life has been disrupted. Yet, there lies at least one opportunity amid this upheaval: we now have more time for each other and for nature.

The Historical Glass Museum opened to the public in 1985. In 1977 the Historical Glass Museum Foundation purchased a 1903 Victorian-style home at 1157 North Orange Street in Redlands. It was the beginning of a dream to preserve specimens of American glass from factories that were becoming extinct, as well as factories and glass artists currently producing glass. The Museum now houses the largest collection of American-made glass west of the Rocky Mountains.

While many visitors come to California for the bright lights of Los Angeles and San Francisco, it can be nice to escape the hustle and bustle. Redlands is one of the best places in California to do this and enjoy all that nature has to offer in the Golden State.

Locally produced olive oil from locally grown olives -- that’s what you get from Lot22 Olive Oil Co., owned by Zach and Andrea Thorp. Opened on State St. in Redlands in 2018, Lot22 sells olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Since the Redlands Visitor Center opened its doors 12 June 2019 we have had 3,500 visitors (and counting)! People come from other states, different countries, from San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and quite a few call the desert home. We had the pleasure of speaking with a couple of those visitors about a new brewery in Palm Desert, Desert Beer Co. So naturally we grabbed our beer guru, Chloe, and rushed to check it out!
