We’re gearing up for the 2024 Redlands Bowl season and Redlands Theatre Festival starting June 20 and 21!
Our local summer-long concert series is free and features renowned artists — from Redlands and throughout the world.
The annual Redlands Theatre Festival is reasonably priced and showcases Broadway Musicals and new works.
While you could attend with just your wits about you, there’s no better way to enjoy one (or all) of these performances than with a picnic! There’s something particularly special about dining al fresco to live music and theatre.
But you want to make sure the food fits the occasion. You’re looking for meals that travel well and can easily be consumed by plastic fork or hand.

1. Dawgs 4 Dogs
This popular hot dog stand serves up inventive wieners with a purpose — supporting Redlands Animal Shelter. Designed to be eaten with your hands — a major perk when you’re eating picnic style at The Bowl — each combo comes with a soda or water and chips. Offerings include:

2. Catering by Leila
Catering by Leila (known on Facebook at Leila’s Catering) is the elevated home cooked picnic solution, without all the muss and fuss of making your own meal! She’s created a special Mezze Picnic Box specifically for the Redlands Bowl loaded with freshly prepared dips, savory baked goodies and other treats! Each box feeds two and is designed for al fresco grazing — perfect for nibbling your way through a performance.

3. Surfer Joe’s Pizza
Tucked within a stripmall, it’s easy to overlook Surfer Joe’s, but then you’d be missing out on this extraordinary little gem. Best known for their pizzas, they also offer a selection of hearty sandwiches. Whether it’s a sammie or a pie, both are designed to be eaten with your hands — a major bone for those eating in the grandstands or own the lawn.

5. Badger Bowls
This cafe-smoothie bar specializes in Acai bowls and smoothies, while also offering an impressive selection of satisfying sandwiches, salads, and wraps. Those with dietary restrictions will delight in their offerings of gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, nut free, and keto cuisine at Badger Bowls.
While it’s hard to go wrong with any order, the Hermosa smoothie and Laguna bowl are consistent crowd pleasers.
